Responsibilities

Major Projects provides bespoke high quality lifts to various high profile clients throughout the UK and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tester or a repair engineer/lift installer looking to further their career to join our team.

You will work from home and travel to sites predominantly in and around London and the South East of England but may need to travel UK wide to suit the needs of the business.

 

Reporting to the Project Manager you will provide independent testing and commissioning support to the team. You will discharge the responsibilities stated in statutory legislation and contractual documentation, while also providing independent technical advice to the management and site teams.

 

We are looking for someone who will deliver the highest levels of customer service, with pro-active communication being the key element when managing customer expectations. You will be expected to set high standards for those working with you and ensure that these are achieved at all times. Spending the majority of your time in the field supporting and monitoring installation engineers, your primary role will be to test and commission new lifts to meet the highest levels of service and standards our clients expect.

 

You will be expected to participate in the development and implementation of the company’s people development training plans and to assist the sales teams wherever necessary and to recognise sales opportunities and communicate these to our sales teams effectively

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Testing and commissioning of new elevator installations and refurbishments
  • Technical resolutions of faults on new installs and refurbishments  
  • Handover of new lifts to service
  • Testing and commissioning management for project works (pre-test, client witness inspections and handover)
  • Independent site safety inspections and internal audits
  • Completion of test sheets and annexes to latest standards
  • Creation of technical reports

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role the applicant will have:

  • A significant track record of success in a similar business environment
  • An understanding of commercial issues that affect the delivery of a portfolio that supports the delivery of the companies’ contractual commitments
  • Strong interpersonal and customer communication skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure
  • A well developed understanding of best in class customer service
  • Good understanding technically of the lift industry in both the complex repair of products but also supply lines and other solutions

 

Person Specification:

  • High levels of self-motivation, self-managing and tenacity to deliver a quality service
  • Gravitas with peers, customers, suppliers and distributors
  • Highly developed personal communication and listening skills
  • A positive and constructive approach to problem solving
  • A strategic business outlook for service in the Lift industry, with knowledge of our chosen markets is a strong advantage.

Education and Qualifications

The successful applicant must be qualified as a minimum:

  • Mechanical and Electrical background
  • NVQ 3 in lift installation or repair
  • NVQ 4 in testing and commissioning is preferred but full training given to suitable applicant
  • 2 years experience in testing and commissioning or suitable similar role
  • Proficient in using Microsoft packages
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as the business requires
  • Hold a valid UK drivers licence
  • Hold a valid UK passport
  • Willing to travel as business requires
