We are currently recruiting for a self-driven, passionate and focused Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of the Mechanical Engineering Team.

The role is predominantly office based at our headquarters in Andover



  • To develop all aspects of mechanical design solutions for new and legacy products, to corporate and International standards
  • Produce detailed design documentation to support validation of design solutions
  • Analyse requirements using DFMEA process to define test specifications
  • Examination of designs using component level DFMEA process
  • Produce technical documentation for production, installation and service
  • Assess the safety of product designs using Product Safety Hazard Analysis process

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in the use of CAD design packages to realise designs (preferably Pro-E/Creo)
  • Knowledge of PDM systems to protect and manage the integrity of designs (preferably windchill)
  • Proficient in the ability to calculate and evaluate tolerance stack up in assemblies
  • Proficient practical skills for the production of mechanical prototypes and proof of concepts
  • Experience in the design and development of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems, preferably which include safety critical elements, machinery design, sheetmetal and fabrication, motor and gearing applications, mechanisms and machine reliability
  • Experience in the creation and application of test specifications to demonstrate design success to requirements
  • Experience producing technical drawings to BS8888 quality standards
  • Proficient in creating technical reports for management review
  • Experience creating designs with an emphasis on assembly and DFM best practice
  • Experience working within a project structure to time critical deadlines


  • Knowledge of Rapid prototyping and manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledge of material selection criteria, particularly steels and metals
  • Understanding of FEA tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to component level
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles (desirable)



  • Holds an HNC/Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline relevant to mechanical engineering
