  • Overview

    The purpose of this role is to ensure the quality of Stairlifts products (both new and existing) meet the requirements defined in our Product Specifications and Quality Management System (QMS).


    Key Responsibilities


    1. Assist in the Stairlifts QC/SQA functions where required and assist with the testing and product verification process as defined by the QMS
    2. Act as a key point of contact for quality issues (both internal & external) and ensure the product requirements of all Stairlifts products (both existing & new) are met in full.
    3. Own and support the Quality involvement required within NPI processes.
    4. Work closely with Technical and Service Support functions in order to deliver against and where possible to exceed customer expectations.
    5. Manage the OOB & Reliabilty process. Where required, investigate quality issues, such as customer feedback/complaints on product/process/systems issues, using the relevant quality tools as applicable, in order to drive improvements and ensure preventative/corrective actions are implemented effectively
    6. Manage the concession process from a quality perspective and sign off concessions on behalf of the quality team. Be proactive in relation to closing off open concessions
    7. Work closely with the Engineering function in relation to new and existing product investigation and testing in the ETC
    8. Actively seek to improve product quality through continual improvement techniques so that the Quality function can help drive cost out of the business and improve product compliance
    9. Write, edit and issue quality documentation of all types, and help ensure our documentation and records complies with our quality system requirements
    10. Act as a consistent “Voice of the Customer” on quality matters, being a principle quality decision maker for product quality and compliance, whilst maintaining the appropriate balance between customer and business needs. Actively raise and document concerns around product quality and ensure that team members are also capable of making clear judgements on quality matters, within described bounds

    Education and Qualifications

    • Educated to at least A level, a degree in a suitable discipline would be advantageous
    • Professional or technical qualifications in quality, engineering or a related technical subject would be desirable
    • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher would be of benefit
    • Leadership experience is essential. 

    Managerial and Supervisory Responsibility


    • This role will have two direct reports

    Skills and Experience

    • Qualifications in quality and/or engineering are essential
    • Leadership experience is essential
    • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workloads
    • Capable of interpreting and reporting data/technical drawings in formal reports, presentations, etc.
    • Strong IT skills essential
    • Strong background in manufacturing, with an understanding of mouldings, castings, machining, fabrication, assembly and basic electronics
    • Good knowledge of quality tools such as: 8D, 5Y, SPC, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, A3, etc.
    • Previous auditing experience/qualifications is desirable
    • Good problem solving skills
    • Excellent product and system knowledge

    Other Information


    Working Hours:        8.00 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. Monday to Thursday (3/4 hour unpaid lunch)

    8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Friday (no lunch break) in line with the flexible working policy


    Holiday:            25 days plus bank holidays
